Nothing and everything all at once. This was another great read by one of my favorite authors.

I know I just recommended this one in my last newsletter, but I couldn’t help reading it right away. I was introduced to this series via book 4, Marooned with a Marquis (so there you have it, absolutely no issues reading this series out of order), wherein our Baronet makes a cameo appearance. That brief blip made me pick up this book the minute I read the description, desperate to get Sir Moses’ story.

OK, Emilee, so what’s the story? Well, Sir Moses Has suffered a traumatic heartbreak that left him hiding from the world, and Miss Chloe happens to get stranded on his doorstep in a torrential downpour, forcing the two together.

The common theme in this series (at least the two books I’ve read so far) is instant attraction. I’m not usually a fan of the instant sparks, but I see it’s value for short reads like these. Our couple has only a night to make choices that will dictate the rest of their lives, so there’s not much room for deliberation.

Emily does a wonderful job of portraying the entire spectrum of feeling from attraction/lust to love and caring. The bedroom scenes are steamy and tastefully done, and of course our fated lovers get their happy ending.

Emily ranks right next to Rebel Carter for Authors I reach for when I want something quick, light, and guaranteed to put me in a good mood. If these are the kind of tales you like too, be sure to pick up this one… along with the rest of the series, because they’re kinda like potato chips…

The Details

A man who wants to be alone, and a woman seeking shelter from the cold – and neither can hold out from temptation…

Sir Moses of Wandorne is a miser. Despite not even reaching thirty, his miserable outlook on life and mysterious past means that he is usually left alone: which is just how he likes it.

But Chloe Vaughn is about to change all that. Accidently stuck on the shores of the river that passes through the Wandorne estate, she seeks refuge from the storm and discovers a man who doesn’t want to be found.

It is an unlikely pairing, but society demands a certain amount of conversation from a host, and Sir Moses finds himself drawn by the strange and intoxicating stranger.

Will Sir Moses decide to open his heart – and his bed – to a woman he barely knows? Can being beached with a Baronet give Chloe a night she will never forget?
